Telephone Interview

This morning I had my first ever telephone interview, which I found a terrifying experience – I’ve had job interviews before but not only have they been face-to-face, they’ve also been for part-time work rather than an actual real job. I was really nervous and it doesn’t help that I’ve had a really bad cough and cold over the weekend, so I’m sure I sounded awful to the person interviewing me.

Although the questions they asked me weren’t really surprising – I asked both my brother and mum what high-profile job interviews entail – I think my nerves probably got the better of me, as my answers weren’t as well formed as I’d have liked.

I’ve been thinking about what I want to do after university which is strange, especially as time has flown by – it doesn’t feel that long ago since I first started university! I’ve looked at graduate schemes with different companies in both HR and Project Management Roles.

The interview today was for a Project Management role which I think sounds really interesting, and although I’d be working in a fast-paced environment, I believe that I’d really enjoy the challenge that it provides.

I’m not sure whether I’ll get a place on this specific graduate scheme, or any, but I know that out there somewhere, there is a job that I’m supposed to do, so I’m trying to not worry or start to panic about life after university just yet – not when I need to complete my final year first!

Nevertheless, I’m sure that I’ll have more interviews and telephone interviews in the future, so every successful or unsuccessful interview is experience that will help me in the future.

Right now though, I’m going to make the most of my final year at university – before I have to leave and find my own way in the world!
