Day Eight: Most underrated book
The Boy In The Striped Pyjamas. Yes, so it’s been made into a film, but I don’t remember there being the hype about this like there is with a lot of books (Twilight, The Fault In Our Stars).
This is one of the rare occasions where I actually think the film did a good job of interpreting the book; and the meaning wasn’t lost.
I think that this is a book that is seriously underrated as it portrays the Holocaust in a way that is powerful; displaying the friendship between Bruno and Shmuel in a meaningful way that works on your emotions and really makes you feel. I love this book, despite the sad ending, and I really think that in today’s society books that display these events in a moving way are important – because one day, there’ll be no one left that actually lived through the Second World War. It simply will be history.
